In a move to expand its service offerings and accommodate growing customer demand, Lebara Nigeria has officially rolled out a new mobile phone number prefix, 0724, joining the list of recognized codes in the Nigerian telecommunications ecosystem.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), which approved the new prefix in line with regulatory frameworks governing the allocation of numbering resources to licensed telecom operators.
According to industry experts, the introduction of the 0724 prefix signals Lebara’s rising influence in Nigeria’s competitive mobile services market, as well as the expanding need for mobile lines to serve the nation’s fast-growing population.
Lebara Nigeria, which offers affordable call and data packages targeted at both local and diaspora communities, said the new prefix will enhance accessibility and network reach for new subscribers.
“We are excited to launch the 0724 line as part of our ongoing commitment to innovation, affordability, and connectivity for all Nigerians,” a company representative said in a statement. “This prefix will offer customers more options while maintaining the high-quality service we are known for.”
Customers interested in acquiring the new 0724 SIM cards can do so at accredited outlets nationwide or through the company’s online platforms.
Telecom analysts have praised the move as timely, noting that it aligns with Nigeria’s digital economy goals and reflects positive growth trends in the country’s telecom sector, which currently boasts over 220 million active mobile lines.
