Lagos, Nigeria – August 9, 2025
The Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA) has commenced a market price validation exercise across the state’s various agro-ecological zones, aimed at ensuring accurate and up-to-date data on agricultural produce pricing.
According to LSADA, the initiative is part of its broader strategy to enhance food security, promote transparency in market operations, and provide reliable information to guide farmers, traders, and policymakers. The exercise involves the collection and verification of commodity prices from markets in different parts of the state, covering key agricultural produce such as grains, vegetables, tubers, and livestock.

Officials noted that the data generated will be used to track price trends, assess market dynamics, and support interventions to stabilise prices where necessary. The validation process is also expected to assist in improving farmers’ bargaining power, curbing exploitative practices, and ensuring fair returns for agricultural stakeholders.
LSADA reaffirmed its commitment to fostering an efficient agricultural marketing system in Lagos, stressing that accurate market intelligence is critical to sustaining the state’s food production and distribution chain.
