Lagos, Nigeria – June 27, 2025 —
The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB) has convened the 2025 edition of the Nurses Assembly, bringing together frontline nursing professionals from across the state to review best practices, address workforce challenges, and reinforce their critical role in primary healthcare delivery.

Held at the LCCI Conference and Exhibition Centre, Alausa, the event themed “Strengthening the Nursing Workforce for a Resilient Primary Healthcare System” served as a platform to promote professional development, peer collaboration, and government-nurse engagement.

Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa, commended the dedication of nurses across Lagos’ primary healthcare centres, describing them as “the beating heart of our healthcare system.” He reiterated the state government’s commitment to improving nurses’ welfare, providing continuous training, and equipping health centres with the resources required for quality service delivery.

Guest speakers and facilitators discussed key topics including infection prevention, maternal and child health, mental wellness for nurses, and the integration of technology in PHC systems. The assembly also spotlighted exemplary nurses with outstanding contributions to their communities.

In her remarks, Director of Nursing Services, Mrs. Omolara Dada, encouraged nurses to uphold professionalism, empathy, and ethical practices, noting that their role extends beyond treatment to community advocacy and preventive care.

The event concluded with a renewed call for synergy among healthcare workers and sustained government investment to bolster Lagos State’s strides toward achieving universal health coverage.
