Julius Malema, President of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), on Sunday called on African leaders to dismantle colonial-era borders and unite the continent under a single president, currency, parliament and military command.
Malema delivered the remarks while addressing thousands of lawyers and dignitaries at the Nigerian Bar Association’s Annual General Conference held at the Enugu State International Conference Centre.
“We demand one Africa, we demand a borderless Africa, we demand an Africa with one president, one currency, one military command, with one parliament,” Malema declared to loud applause.
The NBA gathering, which drew thousands of legal practitioners from across the country, is one of the largest professional conferences in Nigeria.
While his call aligns with Pan-Africanist ideals, it does not reflect any formal policy of the African Union, which currently functions under a multi-state governance structure.
