Manchester City have agreed a €55 million (approximately £46.3 million) transfer deal with AC Milan for Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, marking the former Premier League champions’ first major signing of the 2025 summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old is expected to sign a five-year contract with the English club, pending a medical examination scheduled to take place later this week. The move comes as City look to strengthen their midfield options following the departure of Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, who recently joined Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
Reijnders enjoyed a standout 2024/25 season with AC Milan, registering 15 goals and four assists in 54 appearances across all competitions. His performances earned him the Serie A Midfielder of the Year award, despite Milan finishing eighth in the Italian league.
Known for his vision, creativity, and ability to control the tempo of games, Reijnders is expected to slot into a central role in Pep Guardiola’s squad as City prepare to defend their domestic and European titles in the upcoming season.
Manchester City are also reportedly monitoring other potential targets, including Lyon’s Rayan Cherki and Wolves’ Rayan Aït-Nouri, as part of broader efforts to rejuvenate the team ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup and a packed competitive calendar.
The Dutch international’s signing underscores City’s intent to remain competitive on all fronts and signals the start of an active summer transfer campaign for the Etihad outfit.
