Manchester United has announced they will play friendly matches in Malaysia and Hong Kong following the conclusion of the Premier League season. The club will face an ASEAN All-Star XI in Kuala Lumpur on May 28, followed by a match against a Hong Kong representative team on May 30.
These friendly matches will take place just three days after the Red Devils’ final Premier League game of the season, scheduled for May 25 against Aston Villa at Old Trafford. United is currently positioned 13th in the Premier League, following what has been a challenging season.
This will be Manchester United’s first visit to Asia since they played a friendly match against Liverpool in Thailand in July 2022. The club also plans to participate in the Premier League Summer Series in the United States ahead of the 2025-2026 season.
Chief Executive Officer Omar Berrada highlighted the importance of these international tours, stating, “Importantly, tour fixtures drive significant additional revenue, which helps make the club stronger, allowing us to keep investing in success on the pitch.”
Arsenal, Tottenham, and Liverpool have also confirmed their plans to visit Hong Kong in July. Manchester United’s match in Hong Kong will be their first in the city since 2013, and the local team, managed by former United youth player Ashley Westwood, is currently ranked 153rd in the world.
