Manchester United Target Victor Osimhen for 2025/26 Season Amid Galatasaray Loan

Manchester United have reignited their interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, as part of a four-man striker shortlist for the 2025/26 campaign. The Red Devils are plotting a long-term attacking overhaul, with Osimhen emerging as a priority option despite his temporary stint in Turkey. 

Osimhen, 26, joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan in 2024 after Napoli struggled to accommodate his wage demands following stalled contract talks. The forward has since netted 14 goals in 28 appearances for the Turkish giants, reigniting his market value. United’s recruitment team views him as a proven elite striker, having spearheaded Napoli’s historic 2022/23 Serie A title win with 26 goals. However, negotiations with Napoli remain complex, as the Italian club still holds his registration and maintains a firm €110 million (£95 million) valuation. 

Napoli’s stance on Osimhen’s future remains unclear, with president Aurelio De Laurentiis reportedly open to permanent offers post-loan. Galatasaray retain no option to buy, leaving the door ajar for United. However, competition looms from Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Pro League clubs, both monitoring the situation closely. 

United’s ability to fund the move hinges on summer 2025 player sales and potential Champions League qualification. Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions could force the club to explore cheaper alternatives, such as Zirkee, 25, whose tactical versatility has impressed in Serie A, or David, 25, available for around €50 million (£43 million). Toney, 29, presents a Premier League-proven option but may demand a hefty fee amid interest from rivals Arsenal. 

As the 2025 summer window approaches, Osimhen’s situation will test United’s ambition. Securing his signature would mark a statement of intent, but navigating Napoli’s demands and rival bids will require deft negotiation. For now, the striker’s focus remains on finishing his Galatasaray loan strongly, with a summer transfer saga likely to follow. 

It is understood that United’s hierarchy will finalize their striker plans by June 2025, with Osimhen’s camp open to Premier League discussions.
