Mashariq Al Dhahabia Hosts Cultural Welcome for Pilgrims from Jigawa, Benue, Yobe to Revive Historic Makkah Traditions

In a heartwarming blend of spirituality and culture, Mashariq Al Dhahabia, a key Hajj service provider in Saudi Arabia, organized a special historical reception for Nigerian pilgrims from Jigawa, Benue, and Yobe States under Service 205. The event, held in Makkah, aimed to revive the centuries-old tradition of how the people of Makkah used to warmly welcome pilgrims arriving for the sacred rites of Hajj.

The event was marked by a display of traditional Saudi hospitality, complete with drumming, chants, and symbolic performances that depicted the deep-rooted customs of honoring guests on a spiritual journey. Officials of the various Nigerian state pilgrims’ boards were in attendance alongside officials from Mashariq Al Dhahabia, who reiterated their commitment to not just providing logistics and feeding but enriching the Hajj experience through cultural and spiritual immersion.

Speaking at the reception, one of the coordinators of the Mashariq Al Dhahabia group stated, “This gesture is about reconnecting with our roots as Makkans—our ancestors used to celebrate the arrival of the pilgrims. We believe that welcoming pilgrims with respect, joy, and culture enhances the entire Hajj experience.”

The initiative falls in line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts under Vision 2030 to improve pilgrims’ welfare while preserving and promoting Islamic heritage. For many of the Nigerian pilgrims, especially those on their first pilgrimage, the reception served as a memorable moment that captured the spirit of unity and brotherhood among Muslims from different backgrounds.

Officials from the Jigawa, Benue, and Yobe pilgrims’ boards expressed appreciation for the warm welcome, noting that such cultural engagement is not only symbolic but also encourages a sense of belonging and reverence for the sacred journey.

One of the pilgrims from Yobe, visibly moved, said, “This is more than just Hajj—this is history coming alive. We felt seen, valued, and spiritually uplifted.”

Mashariq Al Dhahabia assured pilgrims that more enriching engagements are planned throughout the Hajj period, aimed at ensuring comfort, safety, and a spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage for all.
