In response to circulating misinformation, the Nigerian Army has issued a clarification regarding an incident involving troops of the 25 Brigade Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team. The unit, while conducting a road dominance patrol and providing escort for civilians travelling from Damboa to the Komala exchange point, encountered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) along the Maiduguri-Damboa Road on Monday, 29th April 2025.
The attack occurred at approximately 4:30pm and resulted in the unfortunate loss of two gallant soldiers, who paid the supreme price in active service to the nation. One other soldier sustained injuries during the explosion and is currently receiving medical attention.
The Nigerian Army expressed deep condolences to the families of the fallen heroes and commended their bravery in the face of grave danger. It further urged the public to disregard unverified narratives and rely solely on official channels for accurate updates.
A detailed report is expected to be released shortly by the military authorities to provide further context and reaffirm the commitment of troops to ensuring the safety of Nigerians, particularly in regions still threatened by insurgent activity.
