In a show of appreciation and solidarity, Nigeria’s Military Service Chiefs on Wednesday hosted a special luncheon for troops serving on the frontlines across various operational theatres in the country.
The event, held simultaneously in select forward operational bases and command centres, aimed to boost morale and honour the sacrifice and commitment of officers and soldiers risking their lives to defend national sovereignty and ensure internal security.
Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, speaking during the luncheon at a major military base in the North East, expressed gratitude to the gallant troops for their unwavering patriotism. He reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to improving troop welfare, logistics, and operational capacity.
“This luncheon is a token of our appreciation. You are the real heroes—facing threats daily so that Nigerians can live in peace. The leadership of the Armed Forces is proud of your courage,” General Musa said.
Other service chiefs in attendance across different zones included the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, who each delivered goodwill messages tailored to the troops in their respective commands.
The event featured special meals, cultural performances by military bands, and interactive sessions with troops. Soldiers used the opportunity to express appreciation and share feedback with the top brass on operational needs and frontline realities.
The initiative, which is part of a broader strategy to maintain high morale and troop cohesion, comes amid sustained military efforts to combat insurgency, banditry, and other security challenges nationwide.
