Minister Advocates Stronger Public-Private Partnership In Nigeria’s Art Sector.

The Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration between public and private sectors to secure the future prosperity of Nigeria’s art industry.
Speaking at the International Art Fair hosted at the Ecobank Pan African Centre in Lagos yesterday, Musawa expressed deep appreciation for the diverse artistic expressions on display, which included paintings, photography, and sculptures.
“This event beautifully reflects the richness of Nigeria’s emerging talent and creative ideology,” the minister remarked. “It serves as a bridge to the future, drawing inspiration from our artistic heritage. This International Art Fair showcases a powerful evolution of storytelling and I am proud to witness the full expression of young Nigerian artists.”
Musawa specifically praised the contributions of corporate sponsors including Ecobank Nigeria, the Africa Finance Corporation, and Soto Gallery for creating an essential platform that allows emerging artists to showcase their talents to wider audiences.
The minister pledged her ministry’s unwavering support for initiatives designed to foster value creation within the creative industry, assuring attendees of continued governmental partnerships and encouragement. She emphasized the critical importance of providing young artists with adequate exposure and support to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national economic growth.
Underscoring government’s role in the development of the art sector, Musawa noted that her presence at the second edition of the fair demonstrated the current administration’s commitment to elevating Nigeria’s creative industry on the global stage. She assured stakeholders that the government would provide comprehensive support to properly position the industry within the international community.
The International Art Fair has become an important annual event in Nigeria’s cultural calendar, bringing together artists, collectors, and industry stakeholders to celebrate and promote Nigerian artistic talent while creating valuable networking opportunities for emerging creators.
