Minister Inaugurates New Board for National Automotive Development Council

ABUJA, July 24, 2025 – The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator John Owan Enoh, has officially inaugurated the newly constituted Governing Board of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), marking a significant step in revitalizing Nigeria’s automotive sector.

At the ceremony held in Abuja, Senator Enoh emphasized the critical role of the NADDC in driving industrial growth and technological innovation through the automotive industry. He charged the new board members to work towards achieving the council’s mandate of developing a competitive and sustainable auto industry in Nigeria.

He also urged the board to align its policies with the federal government’s broader economic diversification and job creation agenda, particularly through local vehicle production and investment in automotive research and design.

The inauguration comes at a time when the government is intensifying efforts to boost local manufacturing, reduce dependence on imports, and enhance capacity-building initiatives across key industrial sectors. The NADDC is expected to play a central role in implementing the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP), with focus areas including electric mobility, component manufacturing, and partnerships with international auto brands.

The newly inaugurated board includes representatives from both the public and private sectors, with expertise spanning engineering, manufacturing, business, and policy development.
