Minister Nnaji Inaugurates Committee to Drive National Energy Master Plan

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology (FMIST), Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has inaugurated the National Energy Master Plan Implementation Committee (NEMiC) in Abuja, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to building a sustainable and reliable energy sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Nnaji explained that the establishment of NEMiC marks a critical step toward achieving Nigeria’s long-term energy goals. He noted that the committee’s mandate is to ensure effective execution of the National Energy Master Plan, which seeks to diversify energy sources, expand access to power, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

According to him, the plan prioritises renewable energy, research-driven innovations, and partnerships with both local and international stakeholders to create a robust energy framework capable of meeting the demands of Nigeria’s growing population.

Earlier, the Co-Chairman of NEMiC, Nurudeen Yakubu, described the committee’s inauguration as a historic opportunity for Nigeria to address its energy challenges while advancing economic growth and environmental sustainability.

Chief Nnaji urged members of the committee to approach their task with diligence and innovation, stressing that the success of the plan would not only stabilise the power sector but also stimulate industrialisation, job creation, and national development.
