Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, Embarks on Diplomatic Shuttle to The Gambia and Senegal

Abuja — June 12, 2025

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Bianca Ojukwu, has commenced a diplomatic shuttle to The Gambia and Senegal aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and deepening regional cooperation.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the high-level engagements are part of Nigeria’s renewed push to reinforce diplomatic, economic, and security collaboration with West African neighbours.

In Banjul, The Gambia, Ojukwu is expected to meet with President Adama Barrow and top government officials to discuss mutual interests, including trade facilitation, energy cooperation, and youth exchange programmes.

From Banjul, the Minister will proceed to Dakar, Senegal, for consultations with her counterpart and key policymakers on issues bordering on regional stability, ECOWAS integration, and joint response to security challenges in the Sahel.

The visits align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s foreign policy vision to reposition Nigeria as a driving force for unity and sustainable development across Africa.

Ojukwu is expected to extend formal invitations to both countries to attend the upcoming West Africa Economic Summit (WAES 2025), scheduled to hold in Abuja later this month.
