Ministers Highlight National Security, Environmental Priorities at 7th Edition of #FMINOBriefing

The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation on Monday hosted the 7th edition of its #FMINOBriefing series, spotlighting key achievements and policy directions of the Ministries of Defence and Environment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The briefing, held in Abuja, was led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and featured in-depth presentations from the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, and the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal.

Addressing journalists and stakeholders, Minister Idris underscored the importance of the #FMINOBriefing series as a platform to keep citizens informed about ongoing reforms, national priorities, and sectoral developments.

Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, detailed the strides made in securing the nation, including enhanced inter-agency collaboration, increased procurement of modern hardware, and intensified training of personnel. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s resolve to crush insurgency, banditry, and all forms of insecurity undermining the nation’s stability.

“Our approach to national security is dynamic and intelligence-led,” Badaru noted. “We are investing in both kinetic and non-kinetic solutions while building trust with communities.”

Meanwhile, Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, highlighted Nigeria’s urgent climate response efforts, including aggressive afforestation campaigns, pollution control, and the transition to cleaner energy sources. He reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to its international climate obligations and the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

Lawal also spoke on the government’s renewed push to curb illegal mining and deforestation, describing the environment sector as pivotal to sustainable development.

The #FMINOBriefing series is a strategic communication initiative of the Ministry of Information and National Orientation aimed at fostering transparency, civic engagement, and government accountability.

As Nigeria navigates complex domestic and global challenges, the government reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive governance, national cohesion, and results-driven policies to advance the aspirations of its citizens.
