MTN Nigeria to Conduct Network Maintenance, Temporary Service Disruption Expected in Adamawa, Borno, and Kano

Telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria, has notified its customers of a temporary interruption in service expected to affect subscribers in parts of Adamawa, Borno, and Kano States over the weekend. The disruption is due to a scheduled network maintenance operation aimed at restoring a damaged fiber-optic route critical to service delivery in the region.
According to a statement from the company’s technical department, the maintenance exercise is necessary to address ongoing connectivity issues stemming from a previously reported fiber cut. The affected route plays a key role in transmitting data and voice services across parts of Northern Nigeria, making the repair a priority to avoid prolonged outages.

MTN Nigeria assured customers that the downtime will be as brief as possible and that technical teams have been deployed to ensure speedy completion of the work. While specific time frames were not disclosed, the company advised affected users to expect intermittent disruptions during the maintenance window.

The telecom provider further apologized for any inconvenience the situation may cause, reaffirming its commitment to delivering reliable and efficient service to its over 77 million subscribers across the country. Customers in the impacted states have also been urged to make alternative communication arrangements if necessary, especially for critical services that may be affected by the temporary outage.

As digital connectivity continues to be a vital lifeline for millions of Nigerians, MTN’s swift response to infrastructure damage is seen as a proactive measure to safeguard long-term service quality in the region.
