Mutfwang Outlines Security and Development Plans for Plateau State

Jos, Plateau State | September 27, 2025

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a safer and more connected Plateau State through a mix of security initiatives, infrastructure projects, and economic reforms.

Addressing members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Jos, the governor highlighted ongoing efforts to curb insecurity.

He said the state has revived the Operation Rainbow security outfit, deployed intelligence networks and early warning systems, and introduced drone surveillance to strengthen monitoring.

A State Security and Information Centre with a toll-free line has also been launched to improve response and coordination.

On the economy, Governor Mutfwang stressed his plan to reduce dependence on federal allocations by revitalizing agriculture.

Measures include introducing high-yield dairy cattle, reviving abattoirs, investing in livestock feed production, and partnering with agricultural research institutions to boost output.
Infrastructure development, he added, remains a priority, with rehabilitation of urban and rural roads underway through World Bank-assisted projects.

The governor also announced progress on a ₦30 billion water scheme, resumption of rail services, expanded flight schedules, and the upgrade of Yakubu Gowon Airport into a cargo international facility.

In education and welfare, his administration has approved a 50 percent reduction in tuition fees for indigenes in state-owned tertiary institutions, expanded scholarship programmes, and upgraded technical colleges for agribusiness training.

Healthcare improvements, including new diagnostic laboratories and stricter drug regulation, are also being implemented.

Governor Mutfwang emphasized the importance of unity and inclusive governance, urging stakeholders to reject divisive narratives and support initiatives that foster peace across Plateau’s diverse communities.
