The grand finale of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2025 was held in Kaduna on Saturday, drawing dignitaries, military top brass, and enthusiastic citizens to mark the Army’s longstanding service to the nation.
The ceremony, which capped off a week-long series of events honouring the Nigerian Army’s history, sacrifice, and achievements, was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Also in attendance were the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.
In his remarks, Vice President Shettima commended the Nigerian Army for its unwavering dedication to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and supporting internal security operations. “The Nigerian Army remains a pillar of national unity and security. As we honour their sacrifices today, we also renew our commitment to their welfare and capacity building,” he stated.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Oluyede, reaffirmed the Army’s readiness to confront emerging security threats while upholding professionalism and constitutional responsibilities. He urged officers and men to remain committed, resilient, and loyal to the cause of national development.
The 2025 edition of NADCEL featured a parade, exhibition of military hardware, community outreach programmes, and a memorial for fallen heroes. The theme of this year’s celebration was “Transforming the Nigerian Army for Effective Jointness in Security Operations.”
The event concluded with cultural displays and special honours presented to distinguished officers and units for outstanding service.
