Abuja, July 1, 2025 — The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development have announced a strategic partnership to stage Nigeria’s first-ever International Airshow, scheduled for December 2025, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s aviation history .
The partnership was cemented during a courtesy visit by Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana to NAF Headquarters. During the meeting, Dr. Kana emphasised the importance of collaboration to ensure the event’s success, urging Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar to leverage NAF’s expertise in delivering a “spectacular Air Display” and ceremonial fly‑past for the President and visiting dignitaries .
Air Marshal Abubakar welcomed the joint venture, noting NAF had initially planned an independent show before recognizing the benefits of synergy with the ministry. He pledged full NAF support and endorsed the formation of an eight‑member committee tasked with key functions—including venue selection, logistics, international partnerships, and stakeholder engagement .
According to the Ministry, the airshow aims to attract global aviation and aerospace leaders, creating a dynamic platform for showcasing advanced technologies, fostering business collaborations, and stimulating tourism .
Dr. Kana has already initiated outreach to international airline operators and diplomatic missions to secure participation, in line with President Tinubu’s vision to position Nigeria as a hub for innovation and economic growth in aviation .
With NAF’s commitment and ministry backing, the airshow is expected to boost aerospace workforce development, international investment, and Nigeria’s profile in the global aviation sector.
