NAF Conducts Second Quarter Route March Nationwide to Bolster Readiness and Morale

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Saturday, 31 May 2025, successfully conducted its Second Quarter Route March Exercise across all units and commands nationwide. The exercise, a long-standing tradition within the Force, is aimed at strengthening the physical and mental fitness of personnel while fostering unity, discipline, and operational readiness.

The route march, which involved officers, airmen and airwomen from various formations, served as more than just a routine fitness regimen. It reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to maintaining a high level of alertness and combat readiness amid the nation’s dynamic security landscape.

According to NAF authorities, the exercise also played a significant role in reinforcing esprit de corps and the unwavering resolve of the service to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity. The participation of all ranks in the march further demonstrated the shared sense of purpose that binds the Force together, regardless of cadre.

“The route march is not just about staying fit,” a senior NAF officer explained. “It is a reflection of our discipline, resilience, and readiness to respond swiftly and decisively to any threat against our nation.”

Across bases from Makurdi to Maiduguri, Lagos to Kano, uniformed personnel took to the streets in full gear, chanting military cadences and showcasing the coordination and cohesion that has become a hallmark of the NAF.

The public display also served as a show of force and deterrence, sending a clear message to adversaries and criminal elements that the Nigerian Air Force remains vigilant and fully prepared to defend the nation at all times.

This quarterly exercise aligns with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, who has continually emphasized the importance of physical fitness, mental fortitude, and proactive leadership as key drivers of effective air operations.

As the Nigerian Air Force continues to evolve to meet contemporary security challenges, initiatives like the route march stand as symbols of the Force’s resilience, professionalism, and unrelenting commitment to Nigeria’s peace and stability.
