ABUJA, July 24, 2025 – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening inter-agency collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking and its attendant security implications across the country.
This was made known during a courtesy visit by Air Vice Marshal Dalhat Ladan, Chief of Air Intelligence, who represented the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, at the NDLEA headquarters in Abuja. The visit to NDLEA Director General, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), served as a platform for strengthening strategic partnerships between both agencies.
During the meeting, AVM Ladan conveyed the goodwill of the Air Force leadership and reiterated NAF’s readiness to support NDLEA through intelligence sharing, joint operations, and capacity-building initiatives. He emphasized that addressing the intersection between drug-related crimes and national security challenges requires concerted, coordinated efforts among relevant stakeholders.
In response, Brig. Gen. Marwa welcomed the renewed collaboration and stressed that the growing link between illicit drug networks and insecurity demanded unified national action. He noted that working closely with security agencies like the Air Force would enhance the agency’s reach and effectiveness in combating drug cartels that pose threats to peace and public safety.
The interaction highlighted the shared understanding that a drug-free society is essential for national stability and development. Both agencies pledged to enhance operational synergy in line with the Federal Government’s broader strategy for a secure and prosperous Nigeria.
The engagement also reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to a whole-of-society approach, reinforcing its identity as the People’s Air Force dedicated to safeguarding the nation and supporting law enforcement institutions.
