Makkah, Saudi Arabia – June 10, 2025 – The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has successfully concluded its Post-Arafat Stakeholders’ Meeting in Makkah, with key resolutions aimed at improving future Hajj operations and enhancing the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.
The meeting, which brought together critical players in the 2025 Hajj exercise — including State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Hajj service providers, Ulama, medical teams, and Nigerian consular officials — focused on assessing the logistics and performance of services rendered during the just-concluded Arafat and Muna rites.
In his closing remarks, NAHCON Chairman/CEO, Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their coordination and resilience despite operational hurdles, noting that the Commission remains committed to refining the Hajj experience for Nigerians.
“While we have recorded notable improvements, this meeting is not just a formality. It’s a platform for sincere introspection and strategic review. We must continue to evolve in our processes to meet global standards and the expectations of our pilgrims,” Arabi said.
Discussions at the meeting highlighted concerns around transportation delays during Mashair movements, feeding arrangements, tent accommodation in Mina, and the need for better coordination with service providers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Resolutions reached included:
Stronger advance planning for movement logistics and transport allocation
Improved synergy between states and NAHCON medical and field officials
Timely distribution of pilgrims’ meals and improved food quality
Continued digital innovation to track pilgrims’ movements and complaints in real time
Early engagement with Saudi partners on service agreements for Hajj 2026
Representatives of State Pilgrims Welfare Boards commended NAHCON for its proactive leadership and stressed the need for earlier training and sensitization of pilgrims before arrival in the Kingdom.
Officials from the Nigerian Consulate in Jeddah also assured pilgrims of continued support in handling consular issues and welfare emergencies.
As pilgrims begin preparations for their return journey, NAHCON reiterated its commitment to a safe and dignified return operation while promising to document all lessons learned for a more seamless Hajj experience in future.
The meeting concluded with prayers for the successful completion of Hajj rites and for the peace and prosperity of Nigeria.
