NAHCON Inaugurates National Media Team for 2025 Hajj Operations

ABUJA — The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially inaugurated the National Media Team for the 2025 Hajj exercise, marking a critical step in strengthening information dissemination and real-time reportage during this year’s pilgrimage.

The inauguration, which took place at NAHCON headquarters in Abuja on Monday, brought together seasoned journalists from various reputable media organizations across the country who were selected to cover and provide updates on the Hajj operations both in Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Chairman and CEO of NAHCON, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, while inaugurating the team, charged members to exhibit professionalism, integrity, and cultural sensitivity in their coverage, noting that the media remains an essential partner in ensuring transparency and public accountability throughout the Hajj process.

“You are not just reporters, you are ambassadors of Nigeria. You are entrusted with the task of telling the story of our pilgrims — their hopes, challenges, and the commission’s efforts to serve them better,” Arabi said.

He emphasized the commission’s commitment to leveraging media support in educating pilgrims on Hajj rites, movement logistics, welfare guidelines, and safety protocols during their stay in the Holy Land.

The Head of the Media Team, Malam Usman Umar, thanked NAHCON for the confidence reposed in the team and pledged that members would adhere to ethical standards while giving fair and comprehensive coverage of the 2025 pilgrimage.

This year’s Hajj is scheduled to commence in mid-June, with over 65,000 Nigerian pilgrims expected to participate under the coordination of NAHCON.
