NAHCON Urges Early Registration as 2026 Hajj Fare Awaits Official Approval

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has disclosed that the official announcement of the 2026 Hajj fare is expected soon, as the Commission awaits final approval from relevant authorities. Speaking on the development, a top official of the Commission urged all Nigerian intending pilgrims to commence their registration process without delay, stressing that early preparation would help ease planning and logistics ahead of the holy pilgrimage.

While addressing reporters, the official emphasized that proactive registration is crucial for both intending pilgrims and state pilgrim welfare boards in navigating the ever-evolving dynamics of international travel and currency fluctuations. He explained that timely registration allows the Commission to better coordinate visa processes, accommodation, and transport arrangements in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, ensuring a smoother and more cost-effective experience for Nigerian pilgrims.

The Commission also noted that, based on past experiences, late registration often leads to avoidable complications, including increased travel costs and pressure on Hajj logistics. As such, prospective pilgrims have been encouraged to liaise with their respective state boards and accredited Hajj operators to begin the necessary documentation and payments in anticipation of the fare release.

NAHCON reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and the welfare of all pilgrims, assuring Nigerians that the 2026 Hajj planning process will be handled with the highest level of professionalism. The Commission is currently finalizing consultations with key stakeholders, including Saudi authorities and financial institutions, to determine a fare that reflects prevailing economic realities while safeguarding the interests of pilgrims.

With the official Hajj calendar already in motion, the call for early registration comes as part of NAHCON’s broader strategy to streamline operations and avoid the last-minute rush that often hampers effective service delivery.
