NAHCON Warns: Only Official Hajj Visa Permitted for Pilgrimage

In a renewed effort to safeguard the integrity of the Hajj process and protect intending pilgrims from fraud and disappointment, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has issued a firm warning to all prospective pilgrims, emphasizing that only the official Hajj visa is valid for travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the annual pilgrimage.

This clarification comes amidst rising concerns over the use of alternative visa types such as tourist, Umrah, or visit visas by unsuspecting Nigerians hoping to perform Hajj. According to NAHCON, these visa categories do not permit entry into Makkah or participation in the Hajj rituals, as the Saudi authorities strictly enforce visa compliance during the Hajj season.

The Commission, operating under the Presidency, strongly advises Nigerian pilgrims to obtain their Hajj visa exclusively through the country’s recognized Hajj Mission. This official channel ensures that all visa processing adheres to Saudi Arabia’s regulations and that the pilgrim’s journey is legitimate and protected by the necessary diplomatic protocols.
A spokesperson from NAHCON reiterated that any visa not officially categorized and issued as a Hajj visa by Saudi authorities renders the holder ineligible to perform Hajj, regardless of entry into Saudi Arabia. The Commission further warned that using a fake or inappropriate visa not only results in financial loss but could also lead to deportation and sanctions from Saudi authorities.

“Pilgrims must be cautious. Accepting a tourist or Umrah visa during the Hajj season with the intention of performing Hajj is not only deceptive but also a direct violation of Saudi immigration laws,” the statement read.

As the 2025 Hajj season approaches, NAHCON continues to work closely with Saudi officials to streamline the visa process and ensure that Nigerian pilgrims receive accurate information, timely documentation, and the necessary guidance for a successful pilgrimage.

For updates and verified communication, NAHCON encourages the public to follow its official social media platforms via @nigeriahajjcom and remain vigilant against unlicensed agents and unofficial travel routes.

In line with its mandate, the Commission reassures the Muslim community that it remains committed to ensuring a safe, seamless, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience for all Nigerian pilgrims.
