NANS Demands Swift Justice for Murdered Ondo Varsity Students

The National Association of Nigerian Students has demanded total justice for two students of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko Ondo State who were abducted and later murdered by unknown assailants.

The association in a statement signed by its National Public Relations Officer Adeyemi Ajasa on Friday described the killing as barbaric and heartbreaking while warning that violence against Nigerian students should never be tolerated under any circumstances.

The victims who were undergraduates of the state university were reportedly abducted in an undisclosed location and eventually found dead a development that has sparked grief anger and outrage across the university community.

NANS commended the Ondo State Police Command for arresting some of the suspects linked to the crime but urged security agencies not to relent until all culprits involved are brought to book.

According to the Commissioner of Police in the state Mr Adebowale Lawal the landlord of one of the deceased identified as Oladele Femi was among those arrested for allegedly having prior knowledge of the crime along with two others.

Ajasa said the association acknowledges the swift response by the police in arresting key suspects and expressed hope that ongoing efforts to apprehend those still at large will yield results.

He also extended the condolences of the student body to the bereaved families as well as the entire AAUA community describing the murdered students as dearly beloved comrades whose lives were cut short in a most horrific manner.

NANS further called on the government and security agencies to take urgent steps to ensure safer learning environments across Nigerian campuses stressing that the lives of young people striving for education must be protected at all costs.

The association reiterated that enhanced security in and around schools and host communities remains a matter of urgency if future tragedies are to be avoided.
