NASENI Invites Public to Launch of National Asset Restoration Programme in Borno

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has extended a public invitation to the official launch of the National Asset Restoration Programme (NARP), set to hold on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the Borno State Agricultural Mechanisation (BOSAMAN) Farm Centre in Maiduguri.

The high-profile event will be presided over by Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, alongside the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, and NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu.

The National Asset Restoration Programme is a flagship initiative under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, targeting the rehabilitation of idle or broken-down agricultural machinery, particularly tractors, across the country. The first phase of the programme begins in Borno State.

According to NASENI, the project is fully funded, supervised, and implemented by the agency in partnership with its technical collaborator, Machine and Equipment Corporation Africa Limited (MECA).

The tractors will undergo comprehensive restoration, covering mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural systems, and will be redeployed to farming communities to boost agricultural productivity and food security.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Mr. Halilu emphasized that the programme reflects NASENI’s commitment to indigenous solutions for national challenges, noting that the revitalization of agricultural equipment is key to supporting rural economies and promoting sustainable development.

The agency has encouraged the public, particularly farmers, stakeholders in the agricultural sector, and development partners, to attend the launch ceremony and support the programme’s objectives.
