The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and the Presidential Implementation Committee on Technology Transfer (PICTT) have launched DELT-Her 2.0, the second phase of their flagship programme aimed at empowering women engineers in Nigeria.
The initiative, unveiled at NASENI headquarters in Abuja, seeks to double the number of female engineers in the country within five years by providing funding, mentorship, and international exposure.
In the first phase of DELT-Her, six female engineers received over ₦70.5 million in grants to develop innovative projects ranging from artificial intelligence for soil monitoring to drone-based security systems and eco-friendly brake pads.
The application portal for DELT-Her 2.0 opened on May 19, 2025, and will remain active until July 31, 2025.
Separately, NASENI and PICTT continue to manage the DELTA-2 Programme, a distinct initiative supporting applied research, experimental development, and innovation in partnership with the Czech Technology Agency. However, there is no evidence that DELTA-2 itself has entered a new phase, contrary to earlier reports.
