NASFAT LAGOS ZONE 2 ZEC MOURNS THE DEMISE OF ZONAL VICE CHAIRMAN, ALHAJI MUNIRUDEEN AKINSOLA BALOGUN

Ayobo, Lagos, Nigeria.

The NASFAT Lagos Zone 2 Zonal Executive Council (ZEC), alongside the wider NASFAT family, Muslim Ummah, and countless well-wishers, is in deep mourning over the sudden demise of its respected Zonal Vice Chairman, Alhaji Munirudeen Akinsola Balogun, who passed away recently after a brief illness.

The janazah (Islamic burial) was conducted yesterday in accordance with Islamic rites. Alhaji Akin Balogun was widely known as a compassionate philanthropist, a devout Muslim, and a community leader whose generosity and impactful service touched many lives both Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

Until his passing, Alhaji Balogun served as the Vice Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the prestigious Fountain University, Osogbo, and held the revered Islamic title of Baba Adunni of Oreoluwa Central Mosque Ayobo. His leadership, generosity, accountabilty, humility, and dedication to Muslim community development earned him widespread admiration and respect.

Leading the Zonal Executive Council to pay their final respects, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jumah Adebayo, Zonal Chairman, expressed deep sorrow, describing the deceased as a rare gem, a committed servant of Allah, and an exceptional pillar within the Zone.

The Salātul Janazah was led by the Zonal Missioner, Sheikh Dr. AbdulRasheed Asamu, under the directive of Alhaji Abdullateef Bello, Deputy Chief Missioner of NASFAT Worldwide. The solemn rite was attended by top NASFAT dignitaries from far and wide such as NASFAT Branch Chairmen, Mudeer of Islamic institution, Present and Past Excos of NASFAT Ipaja branch etc.

Among them was Prof. RB Adegbola, Immediate Past Vice President II of NASFAT, who described Alhaji Balogun as “an uncommon man of inspiration, a beacon of hope, and a symbol of integrity.” He prayed that Almighty Allah overlook his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

The janazah ceremony drew a large crowd of mourners who gave heartfelt tributes, and condolences, remembering him as a cheerful giver and a source of hope for many.

Alhaji Akin Balogun is survived by his mother, his beloved wife, four daughters, siblings, and other close relatives.

A three-day Fidau prayer and special funeral service in honour of the late Alhaji Balogun is scheduled to hold on Sunday, July 20, 2025, by 12:00 p.m. (Islamic Time) at his residence, 7, Gbajabiamila street, Sabo – Isefun road, Ayobo lagos as announced by the head of the family.

We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) accept his return, forgive his shortcomings, and admit him into Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
