The Nasrul-lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has issued a stern caution to Muslims across Nigeria, urging vigilance in speech, conduct, and interactions with non-Muslims to safeguard their faith and remain steadfast in Islam.
Imam Abdul Rahman Raji, Lead Missioner for the NASFAT Magboro Group, delivered the message during the Jumat sermon at the NASFAT Islamic Centre in Aseese, Ogun State, today, Friday, 8th August 2025.
Imam Raji outlined several pathways through which a Muslim could unknowingly fall into apostasy and risk incurring the displeasure of Almighty Allah. He specifically warned against utterances expressing support for non-Muslims or traditionalists, mixing Islamic practices with cultural values linked to traditional religions, providing financial support to traditional rites, and physical participation in such ceremonies. These actions, he stressed, undermine the fundamental pillars of Islam.
The cleric expressed concern that some Muslim scholars are failing in their duty to effectively propagate the faith (dawah) using contemporary methods. He suggested this lapse may stem from reluctance to challenge wealthy individuals who hold financial influence, potentially causing scholars to neglect their responsibilities.
Imam Raji strongly encouraged scholars to remain unwavering in their duties, assuring them that Allah, who called them to service, would reward them beyond measure. He further urged the Muslim faithful to actively support their scholars morally and materially. This support, he stated, is vital to boost scholars’ morale and enable deeper research, ultimately benefiting the wider Muslim community.
The Imam also directed a specific caution to Muslim women, advising them to refrain from consulting traditionalists. He emphasized the importance of practicing Islam wholeheartedly with sincere prayers to draw closer to the Creator. Imam Raji reminded the congregation that Allah is not a magician but a realist who answers prayers based on steadfast devotion, while warning that those who deviate from the belief in His absolute Oneness (Tawhid) face divine punishment. He urged unwavering commitment to Islamic monotheism.
