Two important takeaways stood out from the second edition of the Eid-ul-fitr Family Funfair of the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) held earlier today, at Ikeja, Central Business District of Lagos State.
First, the promotion of positive family values as a panacea for resolving or mitigating against most of the poverty-induced abnormal behaviours leading to crimes and criminalities in the country.
According to Gordon Allport, a Political Scientist and Frontline Scholar, family is the atom (the smallest unit) of the society.
Allport believes that a healthy or unhealthy family would determine the sociological evolution of that society.
This theory was reinforced by Alhaja (Dr) Muslimat Olajumoke Kassim, the Chairperson of the event planning committee, while speaking with Kiin Media at the event.

Muslimat said the concept note of the Family Funfair was focused on fostering love, unity, and healthy socialisation within family and among the Muslim Ummah.
According to her, “the essence of this event is to remind ourselves of the importance of love and bonding within the family units.
“A happy family is definitely a peaceful and growing family. Therefore, the central message from this event is for all of us the Muslim.Ummah to work hard to keep our families together and in healthy state, regardless of whatever challenges we may be going through. This is to help us make the family a sanctuary of hope, love and safety for us all, as it is meant to be,” she explained.
The second highpoint of the social gathering was the plethora of social activities observed amidst pumps and pageantries.
The event served as a strategic platform for Halal Socialisation among the Muslim Ummah.
As the event was declared open, as early as 12noon, shortly after the weekly congregational Asalatu, the programme of event would thereafter give a clue into the robust activities that were slated for the fun-filled long day event.
Prayers, indoor games, quiz competition, group processions, bouncing castle (for children), foods, drinks, and an endless excitement for the scores of participants and guests that attended the event.
Like the last year’s edition, this year’s edition is being held after the 29/30 days Ramadan Fasting, making it a must-attend for all Muslims seeking Halal fun and healthy socialisation.
Participant were cladded in the trademarked White and Blue attire, a colour synonymous with the Pace-setting global Socio-religious Islamic Organisation.
Rich, middle class, or poor, all were faded into a state of oblivion, thanks to the uniformity of dress-code on display at the event.
The funfair featured a wide array of games, sports activities and entertainment that catered to all ages, ensuring that every family members had something to enjoy.
The climax of exciting moments at the gathering were the processions of different groupings existing within the organisation .
Kiin Media ‘s investigation shows that the concept of grouping in NASFAT is revolved around the desire of members to come together for Halal networking and galvanization of resources to do extra Dawah in the cause of Allah.
16 Groups filed out and made bold statement with their match past, which were enlivened with rhythmic Halal Islamic songs.
Some of the groups include, Umar Group, Abubakar Group, Aminu Group, Hasibunallahu Group, Aisha Group, and Amina Group, among others.
Speaking at the event, earlier, NASFAT President, Alhaji AbdulRafiu AbdulWahid Ayodeji, emphasized the importance of such gathering in promoting community spirit and encouraging positive interaction among families.
“This funfair is not just about entertainment; it’s about fostering connections, building relationships and ensuring that our youth are involved in healthy activities that contribute to their development,” he said.
Alhaja Ganiyat Omowunmi Babalola, the National Women Affairs Secretary of NASFAT, said the vital role that parents, particularly mothers play in shaping the future of their children and society at large, can’t be overemphasized.
She urged parents to be more attentive and involved in their children’s upbringing, as such would serve as a strong psychological leverage for their self-esteem and positive mindset.
Babalola also appreciated the long-standing commitment of the women in NASFAT, saying their tireless contributions remain a pillar of strength and progress for the nation.
“I want to specially appreciate our women – our daughters, sisters, mothers, and mentors – across various families for their efforts in promoting peace, moral discipline, and empowerment in their communities.

“It is not easy at all, Wallahi, but I pray Allah S.W.A continue to strengthen you and bless your homes, Amin,” she prayed for them.
In addition to the games and activities the event also featured cadet displays and a variety of delicious foods, making it a memorable day for all who attended,
As the sun set over Alausa, attendees left with smiles on their faces and fond memories of the event that successfully blended faith, family, and fun.
