NCAA Set to Publish List of Airlines Violating Regulations

Abuja, Nigeria | September 8, 2025

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced plans to begin naming and shaming airlines found guilty of flouting aviation regulations, in a move aimed at tightening compliance and safeguarding passengers’ rights.

According to the NCAA, the measure is part of a broader strategy to enforce discipline in the sector and deter operators from engaging in unsafe practices, poor service delivery, and breaches of passenger protection rules. The agency emphasized that airlines that continuously violate safety and operational guidelines risk being exposed publicly, in addition to facing fines, suspensions, or license withdrawals.

An NCAA spokesperson explained that the action aligns with international best practices and the federal government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the aviation industry. “Passengers deserve to know which airlines respect the rules and which ones repeatedly ignore them,” the official said.

Industry analysts note that the move could reshape passenger choices while pressuring airlines to maintain higher service standards. However, some stakeholders caution that the NCAA must ensure due process and fairness before making such disclosures.

The NCAA reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s aviation safety record, promising that the list of defaulting airlines would soon be made available.
