NDLEA Busts Drug Traffickers Using Car Side Mirrors for Concealment

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered a new drug smuggling technique with the interception of illicit substances hidden inside vehicle side mirrors.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi revealed the discovery on Sunday, warning Nigerians to remain vigilant as traffickers increasingly employ unconventional concealment methods. “They’ve found another use for our vehicles’ side mirrors,” Babafemi stated in a social media post showcasing the seizure.

This latest bust adds to the agency’s growing catalogue of creative drug concealment tactics recently encountered, including narcotics stuffed in lipstick tubes, prayer beads, clothes hangers and dress seams.

The anti-narcotics agency has intensified surveillance at the nation’s borders and entry points, vowing to stay ahead of traffickers’ evolving strategies. NDLEA officials maintain the interception demonstrates their improved profiling techniques and commitment to disrupting drug supply chains.

Authorities have urged transport operators and the public to thoroughly inspect vehicles and report suspicious modifications, as drug cartels continue developing sophisticated concealment methods to evade detection.
