NECO Releases 2025 SSCE Internal Results: 60.26% Pass in Key Subjects

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, revealing that 818,492 candidates, representing 60.26% of the 1,358,339 who sat for the June/July exams, obtained five credits including English Language and Mathematics.
A total of 1,367,210 candidates had registered, with the results released 54 days after the last written paper. In a broader performance measure, 1,144,496 candidates, or 84.26%, secured five credits irrespective of English and Mathematics.
NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi, disclosed that 1,622 special-needs candidates participated, including those with hearing and visual impairments.
The council also reported a significant decline in examination malpractice, with 3,878 cases recorded in 2025 compared to 10,094 in 2024, reflecting a 61.6% reduction. Additionally, 38 schools across 13 states were implicated in mass cheating, while nine supervisors have been recommended for blacklisting.
In state performance, Kano led with 68,159 candidates achieving the five-credit benchmark including English and Mathematics, followed by Lagos with 67,007 and Oyo with 48,742.
NECO emphasized its commitment to merit, integrity, and national development in the conduct of its examinations.
