UBA Assures Public of Safety After Afriland Tower Fire, Dismisses Rumours on Headquarters

Lagos, Nigeria | September 17, 2025

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has reassured customers and stakeholders of the safety of its operations, dismissing speculations that its corporate headquarters was affected by the fire incident that broke out at Afriland Tower, Lagos, earlier this week.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the pan-African financial institution clarified that while the fire incident at Afriland Tower sparked widespread concern on social media, the UBA headquarters situated in Marina, Lagos, was not impacted in any way.

“UBA Plc wishes to inform the public that our head office building remains safe and fully operational. Contrary to circulating rumours, the recent fire incident at Afriland Tower had no connection to our facilities,” the bank said.

The lender further assured its customers of uninterrupted service delivery across its physical branches and digital banking platforms, urging the public to disregard false reports and rely on official communications from the bank.

Emergency officials had earlier confirmed that the Afriland Tower fire was swiftly contained, with no casualties reported. Investigations into the cause of the incident are still ongoing.

UBA emphasized its continued commitment to the safety of staff, customers, and assets, while reiterating that its operations remain unaffected.
