The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ajao Adewale, officially took over command on Wednesday, promising to enhance security through intelligence-driven and proactive policing.
Adewale succeeds Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Tunji Disu, who has been redeployed to head the Special Protection Unit at the Force Headquarters.
Commitment to Strengthening SecurityDuring the handover ceremony in Abuja, Adewale acknowledged the efforts of his predecessor and pledged to build upon the foundation laid to ensure improved service delivery.
“On behalf of the officers and men of this command, I appreciate the quality leadership that the immediate past CP exhibited while he was here. I want to assure you that we will fit well into the shoes. When you’re in your office, you will receive good news about us,” he stated.
Reassurance to Officers and ResidentsThe new CP assured officers under his command of quality leadership and promised Abuja residents a more responsive and efficient policing strategy.
“For the men, I promise them quality leadership. For the residents of Abuja, I assure you of quality service delivery, impactful policing, and intelligence-driven and proactive policing under my watch. That I can assure you. With God on our side, we will move from height to greater height,” he added.
Outgoing CP Urges Support for SuccessorIn his farewell remarks, AIG Disu called on officers of the FCT Police Command to extend the same level of support and cooperation to the new Commissioner.
“We have spoken with the members of the management team, and they have given us their word to give the new Commissioner of Police all the cooperation.
“Most importantly, we thank you for all the wonderful work you have done for the command. I beg you to give the same cooperation to the new CP,” Disu stated.
With Adewale now at the helm, expectations are high for a more strategic and intelligence-led approach to policing in the Federal Capital Territory.
