NGO Donates Medical Equipment to Support Police Officers’ Health –

A non-governmental organization, Sharegiving Sun Health Care Limited, has donated essential medical equipment to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command to enhance the health and well-being of police officers.

The equipment, which includes blood pressure monitors, blood sugar testing kits, and dental care tools, aims to address common health concerns among officers, ensuring they remain fit for duty.

Police Commissioner Appreciates Donation
Speaking at the donation event in Abuja on Monday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, expressed gratitude for the initiative, stressing the importance of officers’ well-being in maintaining law and order.

“I feel elated that they have seen us worthy of receiving this equipment. My doctor has told me that with this, we don’t need to leave our hospital just to check our teeth. The duty we do as police officers is to save lives. We are on duty 24 hours every day and are exposed to various health risks,” Disu said.

He highlighted the physical and mental demands of police work, emphasizing that access to basic medical care is crucial in keeping officers in top condition.

NGO Calls for More Support for Security Officers
Kingsley Oha, CEO of Sharegiving Sun Health Care Limited, who facilitated the donation, said the initiative was driven by the pressing healthcare challenges faced by police officers and other security personnel in Nigeria.

“We are motivated by the needs of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the country. One of the machines can be used to treat dental issues, which are often neglected. We are in full support of the police in addressing health concerns,” Oha stated.

He pointed out that many officers suffer from prostate-related health problems, among other conditions, and called for increased public-private partnerships to improve healthcare services for law enforcement personnel.

“We are partnering with the police and other security agencies to tackle these health issues. We understand their needs and are committed to supporting them,” he added.

Oha also urged well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organizations to step in and assist security agencies, recognizing their critical role in maintaining national security and stability.

A Step Toward Better Health for Officers
The donation marks an important step in addressing police officers’ healthcare challenges, ensuring they receive adequate medical attention while carrying out their duties. It is expected that more organizations will follow suit in supporting those who risk their lives to keep society safe.
