Niger State Partners with AWITS to Empower Women in Tech Sales.

The Niger State Ministry of Communications, Technology, and Digital Economy has announced a partnership with African Women in Tech Sales (AWITS) to equip women in the state with skills in technology sales, thereby enhancing their participation in the growing digital economy. This partnership, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday, focuses on empowering women with the expertise needed to excel in technology sales, a sector expected to grow by 17 percent over the next five years. The initiative aims to create economic opportunities for women, foster entrepreneurship, and strengthen their contributions to Africa’s digital transformation. Suleiman Isah, Commissioner for Communications, Technology, and Digital Economy, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “Women in Niger State and across Africa mastering technology sales is more than just a career opportunity—it’s a gateway to global economic influence, innovation, and leadership. By equipping women with these skills, we are opening doors to new possibilities, enabling them to contribute to the continent’s digital transformation,” he said. The inaugural technology sales training for women is scheduled to take place at the ICT Centre, State House, Minna, on March 13, 2025. The statement commended Jennifer Jemedafe Salau and the AWITS team for their dedication to empowering African women in tech sales, noting their leadership has paved the way for the next generation of female technology sales entrepreneurs. “We urge other states and educational institutions to partner with Jennifer and her team to drive these projects forward nationwide and continent-wide,” the statement added. AWITS highlighted that the initiative goes beyond skill acquisition, as it aims to create structured pathways for women to secure job opportunities, build sustainable careers, and contribute meaningfully to the global technology industry. The partnership aligns with global projections that the technology solutions market will exceed $5 trillion by 2026, positioning tech sales as a lucrative career path.
