The stage is set for the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup Africa Qualifier, with teams arriving in Lagos ahead of the tournament’s kickoff on Friday, March 28, 2025. The event, which runs until April 6, will determine Africa’s sole representative at the 2026 ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup.
Namibia became the first team to land in Lagos on Tuesday, with Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Sierra Leone expected to arrive on Wednesday. Host nation Nigeria is already in camp, fine-tuning preparations for the competition.
The matches will be held at two venues:
– Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval
– University of Lagos Cricket Oval, Akoka
All teams will undergo a training session on Thursday, March 27, before the tournament officially begins.
The opening day will feature two key matches:
Nigeria vs. Namibia– 9:30 AM at Tafawa Balewa Square Oval
Sierra Leone vs. Kenya – University of Lagos Cricket Oval
Officials from the International Cricket Council (ICC) have arrived in Nigeria to ensure smooth operations throughout the qualifiers.
Tournament coordinator Emeka Igwilo expressed confidence in Nigeria’s readiness, stating:
