Nigeria to Host eGovernment Summit 2025, Focuses on Digital Transformation and Governance Efficiency

In a bold move to strengthen the nation’s digital transformation agenda, Nigeria is set to host the seventh edition of the Nigeria eGovernment Summit on Thursday, August 28, 2025. The event will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, and will bring together leading voices from government, technology, and the private sector under the theme: “Public-Private Partnership for Effective eGovernment Solutions.”

The summit is expected to serve as a high-level platform for driving conversations around technology-driven governance and enhancing the delivery of public services in Nigeria. With digitization becoming a core requirement for effective governance globally, Nigeria’s efforts at leveraging technology for public administration are gaining new momentum.

Convener of the summit, Lanre Ajayi, while addressing journalists ahead of the event, underscored the critical importance of adopting emerging technologies in delivering public services. According to him, “Nigerian citizens deserve good governance to better their lives. Government needs to embrace emerging technologies to facilitate effective government service delivery.”

The 2025 edition of the summit will focus on fostering public-private partnerships to accelerate the implementation of eGovernment solutions. It is expected to attract a wide range of stakeholders, including top government officials, IT professionals, development partners, private sector leaders, and civil society actors.

Discussions at the summit will center on key areas such as data-driven decision-making, digital identity, smart infrastructure, citizen engagement platforms, and cybersecurity. The objective is to develop actionable strategies that can help governments at all levels become more responsive, transparent, and accountable through technology.

This year’s summit also follows the announcement that Nigeria will host the prestigious 2025 International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV), further affirming the country’s growing leadership role in digital governance on the continent.

Analysts believe the eGovernment Summit 2025 will mark a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s quest to reposition its governance systems in line with international digital best practices. The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy has also thrown its weight behind the summit, describing it as a critical engagement that will catalyze the nation’s ongoing digital transformation journey.

As stakeholders prepare to converge in Lagos, expectations are high that the summit will not only inspire dialogue but also lead to practical collaborations that can help bridge the gap between technology and governance in Nigeria.
