Abuja, July 18, 2025 — The Federal Government has announced plans to host the maiden edition of the Nigeria International Air Show (NIAS) in Abuja this December, marking a major milestone in the country’s aviation and aerospace sector.
The landmark event, scheduled to hold at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, will bring together stakeholders from across the global aviation industry, including aircraft manufacturers, airlines, regulators, innovators, investors, and aviation enthusiasts.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), revealed that the air show aims to position Nigeria as a strategic hub for aviation in Africa while showcasing investment opportunities in the nation’s growing aerospace industry.
“This initiative is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, especially in boosting foreign direct investment and creating a platform for collaboration between local and international aviation players,” the minister said.
According to the Ministry, the event will feature aircraft exhibitions, flight demonstrations, panel discussions, and networking sessions tailored toward addressing industry challenges and strengthening partnerships. It will also provide a platform for Nigerian youths and professionals to engage with global best practices and technological advancements in the field.
The Nigeria International Air Show is expected to attract participants from over 30 countries, including leading aviation and defense companies, with Abuja becoming the second city in sub-Saharan Africa to host such a globally recognized air event.
Industry experts say the move reflects Nigeria’s growing commitment to aviation excellence and safety standards, and could further open doors for international collaboration and economic growth.
