Bank Employee Laments N500 Million Monthly Target
The visibly distressed employee disclosed that she had initially believed working in a bank would be a straightforward and enjoyable desk job. However, she soon realized the immense pressure associated with meeting sales targets.

Sharing her ordeal, she said:
“When you thought a bank job was all about pressing a laptop, wearing heels, and enjoying air conditioning. How do I meet my N500 million monthly target? God, come down from heaven and help us. We can’t do this without you.”

Reactions as Banker Shares Experience
Her post quickly gained traction, attracting comments from many who had faced similar experiences in the banking industry. Several social media users expressed solidarity with her, acknowledging the high-pressure sales environment in Nigerian banks.

@Billion_Fundz commented: “If you can make yourself useful to certain customers, N500 million is small change.”
@Kendra_apparels said: “Why would I generate N500 million for someone else and earn only N100k or N200k? Taaah!”
@Gabriel_Oruta added: “Ahhh, and after my interview on Thursday, I now recall seeing you in a red dress at the headquarters. Can you imagine? After my interview, they were discussing placing me in the marketing department. God, I beg ooo!”
@IKEMBA joked: “They gave me an N50 million target, and I ran to join the army. I always tell my colleagues that military work is much easier than banking.”
@nneuwa suggested: “Local market women need to be educated about saving and assured of the safety of their money.”
Former Banker Laments Losing Job and Taking Loans
Meanwhile, in a related development, a University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) graduate who lost her banking job in September 2023 cried out on social media for help. Out of desperation, she had taken a N500,000 loan from two loan shark apps.

Her story has resonated with many, shedding light on the financial struggles and pressures faced by Nigerian bankers.
