The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather alert, forecasting widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across the country between Thursday, September 4, and Saturday, September 6, 2025.
According to the agency, many parts of the North, South, and central regions will experience varying intensities of rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and possible flash floods in flood-prone areas. NiMet advised residents, farmers, and commuters to take precautionary measures, warning that strong winds and lightning could disrupt outdoor activities and transportation.
The forecast also highlighted the likelihood of reduced visibility and slippery roads, posing risks for road users. NiMet urged state emergency management agencies to remain on high alert and respond swiftly to any weather-related incidents.
The agency reassured that its monitoring systems are active and real-time updates will be provided to ensure public safety, as Nigeria continues to experience peak rainfall patterns in the ongoing wet season.
