ABUJA — The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, has reiterated the Service’s commitment to occupational safety, health, and environmental (HSE) excellence during a courtesy visit by members of the House of Representatives Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations.

The visit, which took place at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, was led by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Mustapha, and focused on assessing the Service’s compliance with national safety standards across its operations.

In her remarks, Comptroller General Nandap highlighted the importance of integrating safety protocols into the daily functions of immigration officers, especially those stationed at border posts, airports, and detention facilities.

“We remain committed to ensuring the health and safety of our personnel, in line with global best practices,” she stated. “Our goal is to create a secure and sustainable working environment that supports efficient service delivery.”

Hon. Mustapha commended the NIS for its efforts so far, urging the agency to continually upgrade its HSE frameworks in light of emerging risks and security challenges. He also pledged the committee’s support in advocating for improved funding and legislative backing to enhance safety measures across federal institutions.
