NITDA, Cisco Wrap Up DL4ALL Digital Skills Bootcamp in Lagos, Empowering Youth for the Future

In a significant step towards bridging Nigeria’s digital divide, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in collaboration with global tech giant Cisco, has successfully concluded the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) Bootcamp in Lagos State, aimed at equipping young Nigerians with essential 21st-century digital skills.

The intensive training programme, which ran over several days, was hosted at the Digital State Hall in Alausa, Ikeja, and saw the participation of hundreds of youths from across Lagos. The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s broader strategy to boost digital literacy, promote innovation, and enhance employability among the nation’s youth in alignment with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS 2020–2030).

Delivering his remarks at the closing ceremony, the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, emphasized the importance of the DL4ALL programme in democratising access to digital opportunities. According to him, the bootcamp is designed to ensure that no Nigerian is left behind in the global transition to a digital economy.

“This collaboration with Cisco is a testament to what is possible when the public and private sectors work together toward a common goal — empowering our citizens with the skills they need to thrive in a technology-driven world,” Inuwa stated.

The DL4ALL initiative, powered through the Cisco Networking Academy, covered areas such as basic digital literacy, cybersecurity awareness, networking fundamentals, and career pathways in tech. Participants received hands-on training from certified instructors and were introduced to practical tools that can immediately enhance their digital proficiency.

On Cisco’s part, the company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation through inclusive education and workforce development. Cisco’s Regional Manager for West Africa, Clayton Naidoo, lauded the collaboration, noting that Nigeria’s young population remains one of the country’s strongest assets if equipped with the right skills.

Several participants shared testimonials at the closing ceremony, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and noting the immediate impact the programme has had on their confidence and capabilities.

“This bootcamp has opened my eyes to the vast world of possibilities within the digital economy. I came in with little knowledge, and now I’m leaving with the skills to pursue a career in tech,” said one excited trainee.

As Nigeria continues to invest in its digital economy and push toward a smarter, more connected society, initiatives like DL4ALL are expected to play a pivotal role in reducing unemployment, fostering innovation, and positioning the country as a continental leader in technology adoption.

The Lagos edition marks another milestone in NITDA’s ongoing nationwide digital literacy campaign, with similar bootcamps expected in other states over the coming months.
