NNPC Drills Four Oil Wells in Bauchi’s Kolmani Field, Boosts Northern Exploration

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has drilled four oil wells in the Kolmani area of Bauchi State as part of its efforts to expand oil and gas exploration in northern Nigeria.

Yusuf Usman, a director at the NNPCL, disclosed this on Wednesday during an interactive session on government-citizens engagement organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna.

Usman stated that the company is currently assessing the best technology to deploy for the next phase of drilling operations in the region. He also reaffirmed the NNPCL’s commitment to developing oil and gas resources in the north.

In addition to the Kolmani project, Usman revealed that five Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants are under construction in Kogi State. These facilities are part of President Bola Tinubu’s CNG initiative aimed at improving gas supply and accessibility across northern Nigeria.

The NNPCL director highlighted some of the company’s achievements under the Tinubu administration, noting their positive impact on the north and other regions of the country.

The development comes as Nigeria continues to explore new oil frontiers beyond the Niger Delta, with the Kolmani field emerging as a key prospect for future production.
