Port Harcourt, Rivers State – June 24, 2025
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has reiterated his unwavering commitment to sustaining peace in the state, declaring that no sacrifice is too great to ensure harmony and stability for the people.
The governor made the assertion while addressing stakeholders and political leaders amid ongoing efforts to consolidate peace following prolonged political tensions in the state.
Fubara stated, “Peace is the foundation for development. No personal ambition, no political position, and no ego is worth more than the peace and progress of Rivers State. I am willing to make any sacrifice necessary to protect the interest of our people.”
This renewed assurance comes as part of the implementation of the political truce brokered earlier in the year by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to douse tensions between rival factions within the state’s political circle.
Observers have commended the governor’s statesmanship, noting that his calm disposition and focus on people-driven governance have helped avert escalation. Fubara emphasized that his administration remains committed to transparency, good governance, and inclusive leadership.
“The people of Rivers deserve peace, not power struggles. Our vision is to keep building on the gains of unity, development, and service delivery,” he added.
Governor Fubara called on all political actors, traditional rulers, youth groups, and civil society to join hands in the collective effort to foster lasting peace and socio-economic development across the state.
