Nottingham Forest Reach First FA Cup Semi-Final in 34 Years

Nottingham Forest have secured a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1991, defeating Brighton in a penalty shootout at the Amex Stadium.

The Tricky Trees, who are currently third in the Premier League, will now face a semi-final showdown at Wembley Stadium. The victory marks a remarkable turnaround for Forest, who were struggling to avoid relegation just 12 months ago.

Goalkeeper Matz Sels was the hero of the match, making two crucial saves in the penalty shootout to send Forest through to the semi-finals.

“It’s been an incredible season,” Forest captain Ryan Yates said in a post-match interview. “We have achieved nothing yet, but to send our fans to Wembley again will be a special day.”

Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo made several key changes to his lineup, resting some players ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League clash against Manchester United. The move paid off, with Forest securing a hard-fought victory.

“Nottingham Forest deserved it,” said former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney. “Nuno deserves credit for his tactics and player selection.”

The FA Cup semi-final draw will take place soon, with Forest set to face one of the remaining teams in the competition.
