NPF Extends Grace Period for Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement to October 2, 2025

Abuja, August 11, 2025

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced a further extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles fitted with tinted windows. The new enforcement deadline is now set for October 2, 2025.

Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, approved the extension in response to a significant increase in applications submitted through the official portal, reflecting growing public compliance with the directive. The extension aims to allow adequate time for thorough verification of applications, ensuring that permits are granted only to eligible individuals in line with national security protocols.

The Nigeria Police Force emphasized that the authorized platform for permit applications remains https://possap.gov.ng and cautioned the public against engaging with unauthorized channels. The extension period will also enable improvements to both digital and physical verification processes to safeguard the permit system’s integrity and prevent abuse.

Citizens are urged to report any extortion, hidden charges, or illegal processing activities to the police, including through the dedicated hotline: 08147818871.

The NPF expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their cooperation and reiterated its commitment to balancing public convenience with effective security measures for the nation’s safety.
