The Promise Keepers claimed a 2-0 victory over 10-man Kwara United in Ilorin on Sunday, reviving their hopes of staying in the topflight.
Akwa United’s Crucial Victory
Goals from Kabiru Osoba and Uche Sebastine ensured all three points for Kennedy Boboye’s side, lifting them to 17th place, just two points away from safety.
Kwara United’s woes began early when defender Segun Adekunle was sent off in the 24th minute for a reckless challenge. Akwa United capitalized immediately, with Osoba striking just two minutes later to give them the lead.
The visitors sealed the win in the 73rd minute, as Sebastine netted the second goal, securing Akwa United’s first away victory of the campaign.
